How Ivan’s Boots Began

Wanting to honor Ivan’s generous heart, his grandmother, Arlene Fields, reached out to Alvin Community College (now Alvin College) with a simple question: “Is there a student who could benefit from a pair of work boots or other required safety equipment?”

She wanted to make a donation in Ivan’s memory that would directly help a student pursuing their education and career goals. That simple act of kindness became the foundation of Ivan’s Boots.

What began as one grandmother’s desire to help a single student has grown into a community effort. Thanks to the generosity of family, friends, and supporters, Ivan’s Boots awarded three scholarships in 2024, five scholarships in 2025, and eight scholarships in 2026 — helping students overcome financial barriers and take the next step toward their futures!
